Dear Friend,
In August of 2001, our daughter, Brittney, returned home after working at her summer camp for two months. Within 48 hours of her return she passed away from viral encephalitis, a rare virus that causes swelling of the brain and has no known cure. Brittney was an honor student at Nicolet High School, ranked near the top of her class and had earned varsity letters in three sports. She was caring, enthusiastic, and always tried to lead by example. Her love for her friends and family, passion for sports, fighting spirit, and dedication to excellence continue to inspire us all on a daily basis.
Our hope is that out of this terrible tragedy, a positive event can continue to grow and keep Brittney’s memory alive. The Brittney Gigl Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to award a college scholarship to graduating seniors. We are so very proud to say that in the last eleven years the fund has awarded over $70,000.
On March 17, 2013, in an effort to raise funds for the scholarship, Nicolet High School will host the 12th annual “BG 3v3 Basketball Tournament”. This 3-on-3 basketball tournament is open to all former and current and future Nicolet students, faculty, staff and parents. Through entry fees and donations, we are able to keep moving forward with our scholarship. Any donation is greatly appreciated and all proceeds go directly to the fund. We thank you for your overwhelming kindness and generosity over the years, and may all of your days be filled with friendship and love.
